"The Ultimate Cheat Sheet For Peugeot 3008 Key Fob

What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Peugeot Key Fob allows drivers to start the car from a distance. This can be beneficial in cold or hot weather conditions as it permits drivers to warm up the engine and interior before getting inside the vehicle.

Dealerships can program and create new Peugeot keys but only if they are able to do so. KeyNOW can cut and program, then deliver new Peugeot keys faster with KeyNOW.

Keyless Entry

Some key fobs can also allow you to start your car's engine. This is helpful if the vehicle needs to be left on a hot day or when the trunk is full of heavy items that make it difficult to open the door. Press the unlock button on the key fob a several times quickly to begin the car. The door locks should unlock and the red LED light should begin to flash. If not, the battery in your key fob may be depleted and require replacement. Alternately, interference from RF caused by nearby structures could interfere with your system.

Another interesting feature is that some key fobs come with a physical key to unlock the car (often only for the driver's side, but sometimes for the boot too). They can be opened by lifting a flap or pressing the button. The physical key can then be removed from the slot inside the case.

Key fobs may be damaged by water, especially if the chips inside them are exposed to salty or soapy water. In some instances, key fobs will stop working completely due a damaged chip. In this instance the key fob needs to be replaced by the dealer. Locksmiths can supply replacement keys much faster and at lower costs than dealerships.

Remote Start

If your key fob is equipped with the remote start feature it will allow you to turn on the engine without needing to hold your car keys in hands. This is especially helpful if you are in a hot climate and want to cool down your car while you run the errands. But there are a few things to consider before making use of this feature.

Some key fobs come with an engine start button that you can use to start your car remotely (for instance, Ford has a circular arrow that moves clockwise on its key fob). Mazdas, for instance require you to first lock the key and then press the Start button.

If you're unable to start your car, you may have a weak or dead battery inside the key fob. The battery of the key fob is no longer strong enough to transmit a signal to the car's system.

If this happens, you'll need to either replace the batteries or reprogram your key fob. The procedure is different for each vehicle, however the instructions are typically found in the owner's manual. Our mobile technicians are able to help you with this procedure. We have the expert tools needed to cut and program the replacement Peugeot keys at your workplace, at home, or when you're stuck on the roadside.

Door Locks

The Peugeot 3008 remote system lets you to lock or unlock your car by pressing a button on your key fob. Unlike  G28  that has a physical key hole this key fob is able to store an electronic copy of the car key inside.

To do this, it relies on a unique radio signal which is only sent out when the key is within a specified range of the vehicle. A solenoid inside the door lock converts the electronic command to a mechanical one once the signal has been detected. This is accomplished by moving a rod which opens the door lock similar to the way keys used to do.

If the Peugeot key fob isn't locking or unlocking the vehicle, there are a variety of possibilities of the cause. The most frequent reason is a dead battery. It can be repaired in a matter of minutes. Other causes include worn buttons water damage, signal interference or a faulty electronic chip.

The key fob on modern cars is no exception. Modern cars require extremely high level of precision to function. The key fob might have been programmed incorrectly, or it may have a hardware fault that stops the vehicle from responding to the signal sent by the key. A locksmith certified by the ICRC can reprogram your key fob to ensure that it is compatible with the vehicle.

Immobiliser

Peugeot was among the first companies to put an immobiliser in a key. The immobiliser chip stops the car from starting if it detects an untrue signal coming from the key to the car. In the beginning, this is great, but as they age the chips may wear out and cause issues. This typically happens when you notice an alert on your dashboard stating 'anti-theft system active' or a warning lamp that reads "immobiliser failure".

Typically, Peugeot dealerships must be called in to design and program replacement keys. Mobile locksmiths have dealer-standard equipment on their van. This means they can create new Peugeot keys at home or at the roadside faster than dealerships.

Peugeot keys typically begin to fail when the key blade wears out. This wear can cause the mouth of the key not to get into the lock in a correct manner, leading to further wear on the locks. Often simply swapping over a new blade helps to solve the issue. It can also help to have the teeth of the key replaced to ensure that they function smoothly. Only a professional auto locksmith can do this, however it will save you a lot of time and money in the end.
